Hey Gorgeous
You know those days when you feel like you’ve so much to do but it’s just not happening?
Two hours after sitting down to work, you’re still scrolling through Facebook and watching cute cat videos, trying to summon the energy to make shit happen. I feel ya’. Been there enough times!
So how do we keep going when we feel like giving up?
- Stop and take stock – why do you feel like this? What has you down? What are you scared of? What are you resisting? Is it simply lack of sleep or is there something deeper going on? Are you letting outside influences take over, or is there internal work that needs to be done?
Whatever it is, now is the time to figure it out, and this work is just as important as working on your business. In fact when you’re in this hopeless sort of mood, this self-reflective work must be prioritised.
Grab a journal, or pen and paper and take yourself off to a quiet space.
Don’t resist it… do you really think you were being more productive scrolling through Facebook?!
Allow yourself ten minutes to just breathe. Go into meditation mode if that’s your vibe, or just listen to your breath for a few minutes and chill the hell out.
Getting back on top is all about loving yourself. You can’t pour from an empty vessel. Listen to what your body and spirit is telling you and honour that. Self-love is crucial to your success.
Once you’ve had a few minutes to bring yourself back to a neutral space, journal out your thoughts and frustrations and see what has been revealed. Are there limiting beliefs at play here?
2. Talk to yourself as if you’re talking to your child, or your best friend. Respond to the journaled revelations with kindness and compassion. What would you tell your best friend to do? How would you help them reframe a negative and turn it into a positive?
Nurse yourself back to motivation with kindness, care, and compassion.
We give up when we feel like we’re not good enough, like we can’t do it, as if we’re not capable, or not worthy of doing the thing… it’s not true.
That is your ego talking. And whilst ego can be great for some things… it’s the worst for exacerbating the voice of fear and keeping us down.
Ego panics when it thinks we’re stretching too far, or leaping too high, so it brings us back to Facebook and cat videos. Comfortable there you see.
3. Make a choice. Choose what you want to believe.
If you want to give up today. And tomorrow. And the day after that. That’s OK. But empower yourself with it. Choose to believe you’re having a few days off because self-care is just as important as doing the thing. Don’t chose to believe you’re giving up because you can’t do it. I can tell you absolutely categorically without even meeting you that YOU CAN DO IT!
Or, maybe, you can choose to believe that you can unleash your super power right now and just get it done now. Choose to believe you have the power. Choose to believe you can. Choose to believe it’s easy. Choose to believe it’s effortless.
This is how we make things happen when we feel like giving up! We choose to believe differently.
Your mind has incredible power. Your beliefs are your SUPER power. Choose them wisely.
And remember whatever you choose… make it an empowered decision! We can totally be empowered under the duvet with ice-cream OK?
Love yourself, and the rest is easy!
With love always
