“Change your life” statements. Can we really back them up?
This one is for me and my offers as much as it is for you and yours. I want you to know something.
Yesterday I released two brand new limited time offers, both with “change your life” claims.
The bit I want you to know is this:
My ego had a momentary shit fit at the claim. She dove straight in there with the following:
“Harriette you can’t put a change your life claim on a £99 offer ffs, like what are you even including at that price point that’s going to make any difference whatsoever? And if you’re including everything, why the fuck are you selling it for £99? You know NO ONE does the work at that price point. They just buy the offers and never open them. Even YOU do that. Come on. This is madness. You’re just going to create a shit ton of unhappy people whose lives weren’t touched in the slightest”.
Yeah. She’s sassy, and seriously knows jack shit about how this works.
However, when it came to the 5k offer, she had quite a different tone:
“Harriette, this is good you know, but what if 5 months isn’t long enough? What if they don’t do the work? What if the most they make back is 5k? What if they don’t even make that? That’s a lot of responsibility on you you know. The last thing you want is unhappy 1:1 clients. Those are the people who will chat shit about you and spread lies behind your back because they spent big and got crappy results. How are you going to stop that happening? Maybe this isn’t a good idea.”
Christ. She’s exhausting isn’t she?! She’s also fucking clueless about how THAT one works too 
Here’s what I know to be true INSTEAD, and here’s what I can model for you when your ego has moments of lunacy too (because it happens to the best of us):
Changing someones life doesn’t mean you’re responsible for finding their soul mate, getting them pregnant, matching them with soul mate clients, processing their payments, doing their accounts and sourcing staff for them… I mean that’s just TOO MUCH. Would anyone even want that?! Don’t ask me, I am NOT the coach to do that for you
Changing someones life can be as simple as helping them to understand something they previously missed, or helping them to understand something brand new.
It can be as simple as altering their perspective on one thing. Or giving them one tool they can use repeatedly through life.
It can be as simple as boosting their confidence, inspiring them, reigniting their passion for life and business.
It can be as cute as an aha moment that leaves a silly grin on their face, or a huge sigh of relief.
It can be as serendipitous as joining the dots for them in a moment that aligns oh so perfectly.
There are a million different small things that can have a MASSIVE impact on someone’s life.
Don’t underestimate the impact of a “small” offer, as both the seller and the receiver.
Small does not mean insignificant. Small can be life changing.
Also don’t underestimate the power of proximity and intimacy.
Being fully connected to one human being as your support & guide for a few months is also life changing, in many more ways than the obvious ones.
Changing someone’s life doesn’t mean you’re responsible for their outcomes, but it does mean you’re fully invested in serving their greatest & highest good. It does mean you get to love on that person for a set amount of time. For someone to let you in at that level of intimacy… that’s a freaking honour. That gets to be life changing for both of you.
And finally… when you make your “life changing” offer, remember the first person whose life gets to change is YOURS.
